God has created every person differently; unique; with an impression of his image in all of us. That is an amazing truth!! He has also gifted each of his children with a gift that will serve him, His Kingdom and His church best (1 Corinthians 12-14 is one place that speaks about gifts). The gifts and callings God has given us our different. He does not call us all to do the same thing. He has not called us all to be missionaries to a foreign land; he has not called us all to be preachers; he has not called us all to give all our money away, etc…. We who are in Christ need to be so intimate with God that we know full well what he has called us to, and to be obedient and do it. We are not called to put our gifts and callings on someone else. If we feel called to something, we should not judge someone else if they are not doing that. They are called to something different, possibly. How God uses us is his choice, not ours. And we also cannot demand that others follow our lead, and judge them if they don’t.
But……
There are things that we are called to that are the same…such as:
- We are all called to Repent (Matthew 3:2; Acts 2:38; Acts 3:19; and many more)
- We are all called to go and make disciples (be missionaries where we are) (Matthew 28:19-20)
- We are all called to Love One Another (Just about every epistle by Paul, Peter & John)
- We are all called to forgive (Matthew 6:7-15; Matthew 18:21-35; Colossians 3:12-17 and many more)
There are most likely many more things that we are called to that are not coming to mind right now, but I think you get the point. Let’s start living into our calling! Let’s encourage others to find their God given calling and to live into their calling! Let’s encourage one another as the Day approaches. Let’s be about our collective callings together, and bring others into the Kingdom!!
